LinkDock Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the LinkDock app ("LinkDock") handles your information. It supplements the GNM Apps Privacy Policy; where the two differ for LinkDock, this page governs.

The short version

LinkDock is a private, on-device "save it and find it later" app for links. LinkDock does not operate any backend or user accounts — everything you save (links, extracted text, thumbnails, tags, and collections) is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded anywhere. We don't sell your data.

What LinkDock stores on your device

  • Your saved library. Links, extracted article text, thumbnails, tags, and collections are stored in a local, on-device database. Nothing here is transmitted to us or to any LinkDock server, because no such server exists.
  • Voice search audio. If you use voice search, microphone audio is processed by on-device speech recognition to turn your voice into search text. It is not stored or transmitted anywhere.
  • "Connect a platform" sessions. If you choose to sign in to a third-party site inside LinkDock so it can pull the full content of things you save from it, you log in on that platform's own page, inside the app. LinkDock keeps the session cookie that login creates — on your device, never uploaded — and nothing else. Your password is never read, logged, or stored. Signing out clears that platform's cookies and no one else's.

Third-party services LinkDock uses

LinkDock includes a small number of third-party SDKs. Here is exactly what each one does and what it can access:

  • Google AdMob (ads). LinkDock is ad-supported and shows banner and interstitial ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a device/advertising identifier to deliver ads and, if you consent, to personalize them. We ask for that consent through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) flow before showing any personalized ads.
  • Apple App Tracking Transparency (iOS only). LinkDock shows the standard iOS tracking-permission prompt to gate AdMob's use of your device's advertising identifier for personalized ads: "LinkDock uses this to show ads that are more relevant to you. Declining still shows ads, just less tailored ones." Declining does not stop the app from working or from showing ads — only from personalizing them.
  • Google Play Billing / Apple StoreKit. The one-time "Remove Ads" purchase is processed entirely by Apple's or Google's own store. LinkDock does not run its own payment or receipt-validation server and does not itself collect your payment details.

What LinkDock does not do

We've confirmed the following by checking everything the app is built with:

  • No analytics SDK of any kind — no Firebase, no Crashlytics, no Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Segment. Nothing is phoning home about the things you save.
  • No crash-reporting SDK.
  • No LinkDock user accounts, sign-up, or login.
  • No LinkDock-operated server or cloud database that stores or has access to your library.
  • No sale of personal data.

Permissions LinkDock requests

  • Microphone (iOS & Android). So you can search your saved links by voice. Recognition happens entirely on your device.
  • Speech Recognition (iOS). Turns your voice into search text on your device, to find your saved links hands-free.
  • App Tracking Transparency (iOS). Gates ad personalization as described above.

LinkDock does not request camera, photo library, contacts, location, calendar, or health permissions on either platform.

Network requests LinkDock makes

These are fetches of public information about a link you chose to save — not transmission of your private library:

  • The webpage or article itself, to pull out a title, thumbnail, and readable text for a link you're saving.
  • YouTube's public oEmbed endpoint, to fetch a title and thumbnail for saved YouTube links.
  • Ad requests to Google AdMob's network.
  • Purchase-verification calls to Apple's or Google's own store, for the "Remove Ads" purchase.
  • A one-time download of the on-device AI model used for semantic search, the first time you use that feature — this is an app asset, not your data being sent out.

Your choices

  • Export your library. Backup & Restore lets you export your entire library, including thumbnails, to a single file at any time, and choose exactly where it goes via your device's share sheet. LinkDock itself never uploads it anywhere.
  • Turn off AI enrichment. On-device AI summaries and tags can be reviewed or turned off in Settings.
  • Delete your data. Uninstalling LinkDock removes everything stored locally — there is nothing left on a server, because none exists.
  • Ad personalization. Decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, or manage ad personalization in your device's settings on Android. Purchasing "Remove Ads" stops ads from displaying app-wide, though the AdMob SDK remains present in the app.
